  1. @3:18 – I had to enable option to Use Packed Color (sic). Else, it didn’t work. But otherwise very nice, albeit slightly too quick at times. However, I guess that’s why we have a pause button!

Great info! Thank you and looking forward to more!

  3. Great series of tutorials. Unfortunately, I’m getting the “mantra: Can’t find geometry” error when I try to render.

From what I learned by searching the web, it might be an old bug that occurs when you save your project with spaces in the path.

  6. Great series. But I am getting the following error:

Warning: The following settings are unrecognized by the light handle:
    focus_handle(0)

Did a web search but nothing relevant comes up. Can anyone help with this?

      • Hm, sounds like a case for a clean install… Which version are you using? If it persists even after a new install, maybe RFE it with SideFX.

        Cheers, Mo

        • Hi Mo,
I’m running the latest version of apprentice, 18.0.348. Just installed it last night through the Houdini launcher. Since I haven’t done any configurations I’ll go ahead and uninstall launcher and the app and start fresh.

I’m looking forward to more of your tutorials. I’m a Cinema and Blender user and have been wanting to get into Houdini for a while now, inspired in part by your work. 🙂

          • Did a complete uninstall and re-install using the launcher and manually searching and deleting. Tried to find a resource online that lists all the files to delete but didn’t find one, so went with what I already knew (Program Files, Local files, Roaming, temp folders, etc.) After all that I still get the same error when adding the Environment Light, but the HDRI now appears in the Scene and Render views so I will just keep moving forward and won’t worry about it unless it starts to affect something. Cheers.
