Hey Chris! I have a question; what would be the best way to vary the y rotation of each flower, so the spirals aren’t all oriented the same way? I tried an attribute wrangle above the copy to points, but the sweep doesn’t seem to listen to the rotations (its VERY possible I did this incorrectly). Any ideas?
Hey! Finetuning orientations on copies in Houdini can be a bit of a rabbit hole sometimes – and unfortunately this setup is one of those times. The solution is pretty quick and simple to implement, but explaining why exactly I’m adding these specific nodes is something that’s better done using a commented hip file than writing one very long comment!
Hi Chris, awesome course so far, learned a lot through this project! I rendered the sequence in Karma and noticed some flickering artifacts across the screen. I noticed some of the hairs are buckling at the first point that I think are the culprit, all of my settings are the same as the project file, do you have any ideas on how to fix this issue? Hey Patric, my guess is that you’re using the main tube as a collision object and the vellum hairs are stuck a little to deep in there, causing collision artifacts. You could either try setting more pin points from the bottom of the hair (pin points don’t collide with anything, so no artifacts) or moving your hairs slightly above the collsision geo, for example by using a peak node before the scatter to ‘inflate’ the tube before scattering. Cheers, Chris!
