  1. Really helpful tip there Moritz. As of Houdini 18 there is now also a “velocity damping” under the Forces tab of the vellum solver. This achieves a similar result.

    • It seems Velocity Damping will “scale v by scale over the given number of substeps”, slowing it all together, but the method shown in the tutorial will slow particles under a given threshold. Say, if you want to shoot something like silly string, and keep the velocity at which it is shot, but reduce the time it takes to settle, I don’t think damping will do the trick.
